Welcome
Some of life's deepest lessons aren't found in extraordinary moments. They emerge while tending a garden, sharing a conversation, or simply paying closer attention.
Those ordinary moments shape the way I lead, love, and see God at work in the world. By sharing what I'm learning, my hope is to encourage someone else on their own journey.
I’m Claire Rivera; a director in clinical research, writer, speaker, and founder of a grassroots charity, Illumination Foundation. My most cherished titles, however, are wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and daughter. I don't write because I have all the answers. I write because God has changed my life and teaches me a little more every day. Writing helps me slow down, pay attention, dig deeper, and reflect on the patterns He is revealing.
My hope is that these reflections will encourage you to think deeply, discern wisely, and abide in Christ. If they help you notice God's work in your own life or inspire you to follow Him more faithfully, then they have accomplished their purpose.
For more than two decades, I've worked at the intersection of people, data, stories, and systems, helping teams navigate complexity and make better decisions. Today, that same passion extends beyond my professional work through writing, speaking, and creating resources that help people become more thoughtful and authentic in an increasingly complex and artificial world.
Importantly, I ground everything I create in one conviction: we are all being formed by something. Technology continues to transform how we live and work, and I believe that's an opportunity, not a threat. But as our tools become more powerful, our character becomes even more important. Our need to embed wisdom, integrity, and discernment into every area of life becomes more urgent.
I earned a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania, an M.S. from Drexel University College of Medicine, and maintain professional certifications. Those milestones matter, but they are not the destination. Learning, for me, is a lifelong pursuit of wisdom.
We are all being formed by something. As our tools become more powerful, our need to embed wisdom, integrity, and discernment into every area of life becomes more urgent.
My faith in Jesus Christ is the foundation of everything I do. It shapes how I lead, make decisions, serve others, and understand my purpose. I write and speak from that perspective, welcoming anyone who wants to think more deeply and live more authentically.
For more than two decades, I've worked in global clinical research, where each trial depends on thousands of decisions made by people across functions, systems, and organizations, all working toward better health outcomes. This work taught me to recognize patterns, connect ideas, and bring clarity to complexity without losing sight of the people behind the work.
Whether aligning cross-functional teams, improving data quality, or strengthening operational systems, I'm continually reminded that the best outcomes happen when purpose guides process, quality is built into the work, and people remain at the center of every decision.
We live in an extraordinary time. Advances in science, technology, and artificial intelligence are transforming how we work, learn, and connect. I see these changes as opportunities to steward well, not fear. As our tools become more powerful, character, wisdom, and faith become even more essential in shaping how we use them.
That conviction has led me to explore spiritual intelligence in the age of AI: How do we remain deeply rooted in Christ while engaging a rapidly changing world.
My goal is not to resist innovation but to help people thoughtfully integrate their faith, leadership, work, relationships, and everyday lives. I believe we become more fully the people God created us to be when we stop compartmentalizing our lives and begin living from a solid foundation, with our eyes fixed on the Light.
What Shapes My Work
Life Beyond this Mission
At the heart of my life is my family. My husband, children, grandchildren, and the people I love remind me every day that success is measured less by what we accomplish and more by the relationships we cultivate. They keep me grounded, challenge me to grow, and continually teach me what matters most.
I am forever grateful to my parents. My mom, a devoted follower of Jesus and lifelong English teacher, taught me the power of words, curiosity, humility, and faithfulness. She is wise, compassionate, and deeply devoted to her family and her faith. With two master's degrees and more books than some libraries, she nurtured in me a lifelong love of learning.
My dad studied computer science at Harvard when the field was still in its infancy and spent his career learning, innovating, and embracing emerging technologies until his sudden passing in 2015. His love of technology, systems, and global travel sparked my fascination with how ideas connect across disciplines, cultures, and generations.
Together, my parents instilled in me a love for both wisdom and discovery. Their influence continues to shape who I am and how I think, learn, lead, and serve.
I'm also the founder of Illumination Foundation, a nonprofit that partners with local organizations to meet practical needs and strengthen communities through compassionate service. It's one way I live out the belief that hope grows when people work together for the good of their neighbors.
Much of my best thinking happens outside an office. You'll often find me tending my garden, reading with a cup of coffee, walking, singing, “upcycling.” I'm continually reminded that life isn't divided into sacred and ordinary moments. Every part of it offers an opportunity to grow, love, and reflect God's light.
